What Has Nala Been up to?

This is Nala, a 5 year old spayed Pitbull mix. Nala spent over a year and a half at HOPE animal shelter. Her shelter stay was taking a toll on her mental health. To help Nala, HOPE located a boarding and training facility in Central Wisconsin that would work to resolve her issues. However, this is not a long term solution....Nala needs her forever home!

Members of the HOPE board have recently visited Nala at the training facility. Members were very pleased to see a relaxed, quiet and obedient dog.

During Nala’s training, she has become very familiar with tools that will be essential for her everyday life to help her keep a healthy state of mind and make good choices. Any interested adoptive home will be required to continue the use of these tools, experience isn’t required but is definitely a bonus. An open mind to training tools and balanced training methods is a must.

An active and structured home would be the best fit, and a family that is 100% committed to keeping her training going throughout her life. This is the report given by her trainer at the facility: “Nala has been doing very well with her training. She has made great progress learning structure, boundaries, impulse control and overall manners. She is uncomfortable with new people and will need someone that is open to being coached on how to handle and advocate for her going forward.”

Nala's Special Requests

  • These are recommended adoption guidelines from the trainer...

    1.     An adopter who is very confident and assertive. Someone willing to be coached on how to handle and advocate for Nala.

    2.     Someone willing to respect the necessity of ongoing behavior management.

    3.     Adopter interested in properly using the ecollar as an effective tool to communicate with Nala.

    4.     Multiple visits are recommended for Nala to become comfortable with her new person.

    5.     Multiple visits to help understand the importance of consistent continued training.

    6.     No children or other pets.

    7.     Previous experience with Bully breeds preferred.

In addition to the above, HOPE will require a signed contract acknowledging the adoption of a dog with a bite history. Nala will not be permitted to return to HOPE animal shelter as this would undo all progress made. Comments will NOT be permitted on Facebook and DO NOT contact HOPE animal shelter.

Nala’s current trainer is deeply committed and cares about Nala. She is willing to provide FREE ongoing support for as long as is needed! You’re not alone!
